Senior Accountant

Job Description

Secura Bio is a specialty pharmaceutical company with one approved oncology therapeutic sold in the United States and one approved oncology therapeutic sold in nine European countries. This role is a full-time position and will provide support to the Finance and Accounting department with a combination of assigned responsibilities plus project-based roles focused in the areas of clinical trials and cost accounting. The position will report to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
• Help prepare clinical trial accounting including management of financial relationships with vendors, preparation of accruals, maintenance of clinical trial tracking reconciliations and internal financial reporting
• Provide financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, and reporting cost data
• Determine cost of operations by establishing standard costs; maintain item costs for accuracy of raw material, work in process and finished goods
• Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
• Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses, studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
• Confirm costs by collecting, interpreting, and reporting data.
• Prepare monthly inventory roll-forwards, reserve analyses, journal entries, and special reports and scorecards.
• Support and assist in the Company’s yearly audit and quarterly reviews
• Cross train and collaborate in a team environment
• Other Ad hoc projects as assigned

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 1 years of corporate accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or other Life Science sector
• Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
• Clinical trial and cost accounting experience either in public or industry setting preferred
• Experience with general ledger systems – NetSuite preferred
• Hands on and detailed orientated
• Must have excellent customer service attitude
• Ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures
• Strong current working knowledge of GAAP
• Strong understanding of internal control principles (SOX)
• Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Aptitude and motivation to learn and assume new responsibilities
• Must be goal oriented and a team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment

Desired Experience:

• CPA preferred
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Strong Excel skills
