Senior Accountant

Job Description

Secura Bio is a newly established pharmaceutical company with an approved oncology therapeutic sold in the United States and in eighteen other countries. The Senior Accountant for Secura Bio will provide support to the Finance and Accounting department and will have a combination of assigned responsibilities plus project-based roles. The position will report to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in development, implementation, documentation and continuous improvements of systems, processes and internal controls
  • Create monthly financial statement reports including review and variance analysis
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Research business transactions and prepare technical accounting memos
  • Establish effective processes for executing and recording cash disbursements for vendors and suppliers
  • Maintain the company’s general ledger accounts
  • Execute monthly invoicing and manage accounts receivable
  • Maintain, manage and reconcile the company’s cash and investment accounts
  • Establish and maintain the company’s fixed asset ledger
  • Establish and manage efficient time and expense reporting processes
  • Perform periodic account reconciliations
  • Cross train and collaborate in a team environment
  • Other Ad hoc projects as assigned

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of three years of corporate accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or other Life Science sector
  • Experience with general ledger systems including QuickBooks, GP Dynamics
  • Hands on and detailed orientated
  • Must have excellent customer service attitude
  • Ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures
  • Strong current working knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606 and 842
  • Strong understanding of internal control principles (SOX)
  • Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Aptitude and motivation to learn and assume new responsibilities
  • Must be goal oriented and a team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment

Desired Experience

  • CPA and public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Supervisory experience a plus
